The Granary

The Granary is located in Sherwood, one of the outermost towns in the Fox Cities.  I had driven by The Granary at least 100 times and finally decided it was time to stop in and try it out!  Supper clubs seem to be a staple of Wisconsin night life, being from Lower Michigan, I was unfamiliar with the concept!  I was greeted by two bartenders who also happened to be the owners, both who were friendly and eager to help the group that I was with.

The drinks were appropriately priced and the bar offered homemade ranch pretzels to munch on while browsing over the menu.  After we received our menus, I was surprised to see just how many options they offer!  The Granary serves everything from steaks, seafood, and broasted chicken to your more non-traditional options like frog legs, roasted duck, haddock Oscar, and pork shanks covered in sauerkraut!  I finally settled on steamed scallops with potato puffs.  Every order also comes with the soup and salad bar.  It was the biggest salad bar that I had ever seen at a supper club complete with homemade croutons.  They served two types of soup, one being Reuben soup, appropriate considering it was the week of St. Patrick’s Day.

As everyone finished their plates, we received our checks and headed back to the bar area.  I was so surprised to see that with my meal and my boyfriend’s meal, our total was under $30.  Considering the fact that we had both stuffed ourselves on steak and scallops and our to go boxes we also stuffed, I was surprised to see that small number! The bar had a huge selection of after dinner drinks including options that I have never heard of like a Blue Fly Tail and a Velvet Hammer.  As we were enjoying our White Dove ice cream drinks, I noticed that they had posted specials for birthdays and anniversaries that included a complimentary bottle of wine or champagne with dinner and a complimentary cake for dessert.  I can’t imagine how a business can make a profit by giving away items when their prices are already so low!

With unbeatable prices, a calming atmosphere, and friendly staff, they have built a following that is sure to stick with them for years to come.  If you are in the mood to try something new, make the short trip to the Granary in Sherwood… it is a refreshing change of pace!
